Spiritual Lessons I Have Learned From My Dog.

I love my dog. His name is Goose and he is a black lab, which I am sure is very confusing to our grandson. Even more confusing is the fact that we call his dog a fox. Poor kid.

But Goose…I could learn a lot from him, really. Spiritual things. No, I’m not kidding.

He is always waiting on me in the mornings. Always wanting to snuggle and be together. First thing. Never fails. I wish I was more like that with God.

He is persistent when he wants things. He will sit and look at you with his brown puppy dog eyes as long as it takes to get that piece of cheese on your plate. I wish I was attentive like that to God and His gifts to me.

When Goose is playing in the yard, it is beyond ADORABLE when he just stops suddenly and looks around til he finds me. ME. It melts my heart. I want to be trucking right along and just stopping every little bit—God! There You are! Just wanted to see You!

So all you non-dog lovers are perhaps confused and even slightly embarrassed that I have spiritualized my dog. That’s okay. All my dog peeps get it. And every time you wake up to that little ball of fur, every time he waits and waits and waits for you to share your bounty, every time he looks for you—you’ll think you should be doing some of that, too.
